Pyrrhic Victory

The main quest for Forsaken is called Pyrrhic Victory. Our Requiem Strike Force's goal in this quest is to prevent the Omega Group from rescuing Kazimir Zykov and to capture the Forsaken.

Requirements

This quest can be completed with any number of players. The only requirement is to obtain the Chrysalax, which will be required as early as step 2.

While there is an easy side quest to obtain the Chrysalax it is not the quickest way to obtain the weapon, Legendary Trials and the Mystery Box especially are usually quicker for obtaining the weapon. The choice is yours, you can work on the side quest while also spinning the box or completing trials.

Step 1: Reveal the Monster

Head to the Observation Tower and interact with the button on the wall opposite the Bunker teleporter to trigger a cutscene, revealing Omega Group's plans and the truth about Kazimir Zykov.

Step 2: Gather the Parts

You must obtain the four parts needed to assemble the Aetherium Neutralizer. These parts can be obtained in any order: the Housing Unit, Monitoring Device, Fuel Tank, and Catalyzed Crystal Shards.

While working on obtaining these parts you should be working on obtaining the Chrysalax from any of these previously mentioned sources as it is required to obtain the Catalyzed Crystal Shards.

Housing Unit

Head to the Board Room inside the Bunker and wait for an Abomination to spawn. Once spawned, bait the Abomination to charge into the wall in the corner of the room with a Buoy hanging from it, knocking it down, and revealing the Housing Unit.

Fuel Tank

Head to the Fuel Processing area of the map, all players in the game must interact with a control panel on each of the fuel tanks per player at the same time to begin a lockdown. During this lockdown, you must kill zombies until all four tanks have been filled ending the lockdown and dropping the Fuel Tank in the center of the area.

Fuel Tank
Fuel Tank

There are four tanks, but since it is per player if you are solo you can interact with any control panel at any time to being the lockdown, two players requires two seperate control panels to be interacted with at the same time, and so on.

Monitoring Device

Head to the Observation Tower and apply the

Ammo Mod on your weapon, then head to the Arcade and you must trigger the Dead Wire effect on a zombie near the Grand Prix arcade machine to activate it.

Grand Prix Machine

Once activated, interact with the machine for 2000 points spawning in an ARC-XD with an AOE pulse effect. You must drive this ARC-XD behind the counter of the TV Store and have the pulse break open a vent which you can drive into and then self-destruct, blowing a hole through the wall and revealing the Monitoring Device.

Monitoring Device

If the ARC-XD happens to get destroyed before you can blow open the wall, you can buy another for the same cost at the machine.

Catalyzed Crystal Shards

Obtaining these shards requires the Chrysalax.

After completing Step 1, three giant Aetherium Crystals will have spawned in the Staging Area, Storage Zone 5, and The Amplifier that you must destroy using the Chrysalax by using the alternate variant (the gun) to shoot the three glowing orbs around each crystal and then using the primary variant (the axe) to break the giant crystal.

The three glowing orbs can be destoryed via any damage, the alternate variant of the Chrysalax is just our recommendation for destorying these orbs.

Once broken, a smaller Crystal Shard can be picked up from the center of the broken crystal. You must throw this Crystal Shard into the mouth of an Abomination causing it to eat and swallow the shard which once killed will drop a Catalyzed Crystal Shard. You must repeat this for all three Aetherium Crystals to obtain the three shards.

Obtaining the Chrysalax

Along with this side quest, the Chrysalax can be obtained from Legendary Trials and from the Mystery Box.

The Chrysalax requires three parts to obtain: the Polymorphic Crystal Core, Energetic Geode, and Tempered Crystal Heart.

Polymorphic Crystal Core

Once two rounds have passed after completing Step 1, the Polymorphic Crystal Core will fall from the sky, landing in Jim's Donuts shop on Main Street. Upon approaching the core, it will be shielded and three waves of special enemies will begin to spawn. Once all three waves have been defeated the shield will be lowered and you can collect the core.

Energetic Geode

Wait for an Abomination to spawn and bait it to shoot its ranged energy beam attack at a Dark Aether Crystal, breaking it and revealing the Energetic Geode.

Tempered Crystal Heart

You must kill a Tormentor with fire damage, ideally using the Flamethrower scorestreak or the

field upgrade, dropping a Tempered Crystal Heart.

A Flamethrower can be purchased from any crafting table for salavage.

Once all three parts have been obtained, head to the Particle Accelerator in the Bunker, place the items inside the tank filled with liquid behind the Krig 6 wall buy, and get around 10 melee kills to complete the weapon and obtain the Chrysalax.

Step 3: Assemble the Aetherium Neutralizer

Once all four parts have been obtained, head to the workbench on Main Street to assemble the Aetherium Neutralizer.

Aetherium Neutralizer

Once assembled, be sure to fully prepare for the boss fight, you won't be going into the boss fight just yet and will get one last chance at the end of this step to Pack-a-Punch, get perks, armor, craft items, and ammo; However you won't be able to obtain any new weapons from the Mystery Box if you still needed to do so.

When ready, interact with the Aetherium Neutralizer to begin moving through the Phase. While moving, you must constantly provide the Aetherium Neutralizer with fuel to keep going by destroying Catalyzed Crystals, picking up their shards, and placing them into the Aetherium Neutralizer.

Catalyzed Crystal

You will need to step out of the safety bubble to pick up most of the shards as some of them require you to climb ladders to reach them, the Phase does not do a lot of damage so you should be fine, but move quickly just in case.

Once you have reached the checkpoint the Aetherium Neutralizer will shut down, and you will be given one final chance to restock, upgrade, or craft anything you need before entering the boss fight.

Step 4: Defeat the Forsaken

This is a three-phase boss fight with no time limit so you can go as slow or fast as you want.

Boss Fight Mechanics

When ready, interact with the door to enter the boss arena. Samantha Maxis will float around the arena and create a ring of fire underneath her that you must kill zombies within to charge her essence. Once charged, she will deposit that essence into one of the two Aetherium Guns in the arena, afterward you must mount that charged gun and shoot it at the Forsaken's weak point after exposing it by shooting the crystals off with your weapon.

The gun variant Chrysalax is strong against the crystals but only at short range, if you started with the M16 and have it Pack-a-Punched it should be much more effective at longer distances.

Phase 1

During Phase 1, the Forsaken's weak points will be his shoulders, with his main attack being a shockwave and his secondary attacks only coming into play when one of his shoulders has been destroyed. His two secondary attacks are a slow field when his right shoulder is destroyed, and tracking energy orbs when his left shoulder is destroyed. This phase ends once both of his shoulders have been destroyed.

Boss Fight Phase 1
Boss Fight Phase 1

You don't need to wait until both crystals are broken before you can start using the Aetherium Gun, once one is broken you can focus that shoulder until it is destroyed and move onto the next.

Phase 2

During Phase 2, you will be teleported to a "Vision of the Future" If you are to succeed, Panzersoldats will begin to spawn, and the Forsaken will gain a new ranged attack where he shoots lasers from his eyes dealing continuous damage to anyone in the affected area. The crystal on the Forsaken's stomach is now his weak point.

Phase 3

During Phase 3, the Forsaken's weak point will shift to the top of his head. Upon destroying this weak point, the Forsaken releases a desperate attack allowing the Phase to enter the boss arena damaging all players and potentially downing you if you are low enough. Before you think you are finished, Samantha makes the ultimate sacrifice, triggering the ending cutscene after some dialogue.

Congratulations! You have beaten the Forsaken main quest: Pyrrhic Victory.
