Buried
Mined Games
The main quest for Buried is called Mined Games. Like Tranzit and Die Rise, this main quest has the Richtofen and the Maxis sides. The goal of the main quest for the Victus crew varies depending on which side you choose.
The Maxis Side ending is confirmed to be the canon ending in the official Call of Duty: Zombies timeline.
Requirements
Four players are needed to complete both sides of the main quest. The Final Step is possible with 3 players, however it is challenging and not recommended. You'll also need to acquire the following items to complete either side fully:
Paralyzer Wonder Weapon (Both Sides, found in the Mystery Box)
Galvaknuckles or Bowie Knife (Both Sides, found as a wall buy)
Vulture Aid Perk (Richtofen Side, found in the church to the left of the altar)
Time Bomb (Both Sides, found in the Mystery Box)
Powering the Orbs
For both sides, there are four orbs around the map that you will need to interact with using either the Paralyzer to heat the orbs until they turn white and you hear a "ding" like sound or the Subsurface Resonator (requiring a turbine) to destroy the orbs. The locations of the four orbs are as follows:
Upon completing this step, you will now need to choose either the Maxis or Richtofen side of the main quest.
Richtofen Side
Building the Guillotine
You'll need to find four parts to build the Guillotine parallel from the right side of the saloon. Some of these parts are also used for Building the Gallows for the Maxis Side of this main quest so be sure to build these parts at the Guillotine and not at the Gallows.
The four parts that you will need to find to build the Guillotine are:
Acquiring the Lantern (Richtofen Side)
A ghost lantern will appear above the Witches' Mansion and begin floating around the town. You need to cook a grenade (or use an explosive weapon) and have it explode near the lantern in the air to knock it to the ground for you to pick up.
After acquiring the lantern, you now need to power it by killing around 10 Witches in the Witches' Mansion. Once powered, place the lantern down on a symbol atop the roof of the Gunsmith Store which you can reach using the Paralyzer by aiming it at your feet and firing.
If you happen to go down with the lantern in your inventory, you will have to pick up the lantern again from where you went down.
Wisp Step (Richtofen Side)
Placing the lantern on the symbol will reveal 3 ciphers you will need to solve representing 3 of the 5 signs found in the catacombs that you will need to melee using either the Galvaknuckles or Bowie Knife. Below is the cipher key that will help you solve which 3 signs you need to melee in your game:
Instead of reading the entire cipher, read just the first symbol as all 5 possible solutions contain different first symbols.
After you melee all 3 signs a wisp will spawn on the map which you can only see if you have the Vulture Aid Perk (this perk also allows you to see the wisp through walls which is very useful). Only players who can see the wisp can cause the wisp to move by walking through it and must do so within 15 seconds of the wisp spawning and moving until it reaches the Guillotine.
After the wisp reaches the Guillotine you'll need to power it by luring zombies near the wisp and killing them once you see the zombies glowing. Once completed, you will need to obtain a Time Bomb from the Mystery Box to complete the next step.
If a player with who can see the wisp does not walk through it within 15 seconds, the wisp will fade away requiring you to re-spawn the wisp by meleeing the 3 signs once again.
Round Infinity
Place a Time Bomb directly on the Guillotine bench and have all four players gather around the bench before detonating it. This will send all four players into Round Infinity where you will have 60 seconds to search dead bodies in the streets around the town that look like our Victus crew on the ground for a switch.
There are 13 locations for these dead bodies which are listed below:
In front of Guillotine
Underneath the "G" in the Gunsmith logo
In front of the Saloon entrance stairs
In the crevice behind the Barn and Gunsmith Store
In the alleyway between the bank and barn walls
In front of the Jail House entrance
In between the General Store and the Mystery Box location
Near the Candy Store entrance
Near the arrow sign by the Candy Store
To the left of the Church where the red orb location is
Past the entrance of the Church near the Workbench
Against the rock between the Witches' Mansion and the debris in front of it
Once you have acquired the switch you will need to add it to the Guillotine. This cannot be done while on Round Infinity so wait for your time to be up then proceed to add it to the Guillotine.
If you fail to find the switch in time, you will have to place another Time Bomb on the Guillotine and repeat this process. Try not to down once you've found the switch as doing so will more than likely have the switch be glitched into the ground causing you to restart the game and repeat the entire quest again.
Maze Step
Head to the maze behind the Witches' Mansion, in this maze, there will now be four color-coded switches (Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow) that need to be flipped in the correct order. Below is an image of each possible maze variation along with the locations of the switches in each variation:
The order the switches need to be flipped is completely randomized in every single game, so it is through trial-and-error that you will complete this step. You'll know that a switch was flipped in the correct order if it sparks after all four switches have been flipped.
The levers will not spark until all four switches have been flipped, a lever sparking means you flipped that switch in it's correct position in the order. For example, lets say you flipped the switches in the following order Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and after flipping the final switch only the Blue switch sparked, that means the Blue switch is third in the order and always will be. Each time you fail the correct order you will need to reset the maze by having all four players return to the main area and then head back to the maze.
This step completes the Richtofen path progression to the Final Step, which is the same for both sides.
Maxis Side
Building the Gallows
You'll need to find four parts to build the Gallows next to the entrance of the Courthouse. Some of these parts are also used for Building the Guillotine for the Richtofen Side of this main quest so be sure to build these parts at the Gallows and not at the Guillotine.
The four parts that you will need to find to build the Gallows are:
Acquiring the Lantern (Maxis Side)
A ghost lantern will appear above the Witches' Mansion and begin floating around the town. You need to cook a grenade (or use an explosive weapon) and have it explode near the lantern in the air to knock it to the ground for you to pick up.
After acquiring the lantern, you now need to power it by killing zombies using Arthur (aka Leroy), traps, or a nuke power-up. Remember that the person with the lantern must be near the zombies that are killed by any of these methods. Once powered, place the lantern down on a symbol atop the roof of the Gunsmith Store.
It is important to let Maxis finish his dialouge before picking up the lantern as picking it up to quickly could bug out the dialouge for the rest of the main quest. If you happen to go down with the lantern in your inventory, you will have to pick up the lantern again from where you went down.
Wisp Step (Maxis Side)
Before continuing to this step be sure to acquire the Time Bomb from the Mystery Box.
Place a Time Bomb before meleeing the final sign, once you melee the final sign a wisp will spawn that you will have to escort to the Gallows and sustain by having it pass near zombies. The pathing of the wisp depends on which sign you melee last.
If Consumption Cross is one of your 3 signs always melee that sign last as this produces the most optimal path for the wisp only requiring to have a minimum of 2 zombies in the upper part of the Barn and a minimum of 3 zombies in front of the Saloon. Otherwise, you can force this path by meleeing Consumption Cross first and then meleeing your correct 3 signs and then meleeing Consumption Cross again to spawn the wisp.
Once the wisp has reached the Gallows you'll need to detonate the Time Bomb you placed before meleeing the final sign, this will reset the wisp allowing you to escort it once more, and when the wisp reaches the Gallows for the second time, you'll have completed this step.
Bell Step
Have one player enter the Witches' Mansion and in the room just past the secret bookshelf on a couch will be a switchboard that has a 3x3 pattern of bulbs.
Each column on this switchboard represents a location on the map, and each bulb represents a bell in that location. The left column represents the Candy Store bells, the middle column represents the Barn bells, and the right column represents the Courtroom bells. Below is a list of each bell in its corresponding location:
The second floor of the Candy Store bells
On the corner of the square table along the wall
On the table with two pots, near the couch blockade
On the chair to the right side of the door to the stairway
The upper floor of the Barn bells
On a bale of hay to the right of the hole in the wall
On a bale of hay to the right of the gap in the railing
On a bale of hay just before the players drop down to the Jail Cell
The bottom floor of the Courtroom
In the left corner of the Courtroom as soon as you enter
On the left side of the Judge's podium
On the table on the right side of the Courtroom near the podium
Have one player in each of these three locations while the other is near the switchboard, begin ringing these bells so the person at the switchboard can see which bulb represents which bell on the map.
After figuring out which bell represents which bulb on the switchboard, interact with the switchboard to reveal the first light on the board, the player next to the switchboard will need to call out that bell and another player must ring the bell turning the light green. Repeat this until all lights on the switchboard are green, shutting off the switchboard and completing the step.
Players have a limited time to ring a bell once a light is revealed on the switchboard, failure to the correct bell in time or ringing the wrong bell will reset the switchboard cause the team to start the step over again.
Final Step (Both Sides)
Head to the fountain outside of the Chruch and Witches' Mansion and interact with it to "Make a Wish" and begin a sharpshooter mini-game. This will spawn cowboy targets via lightning strikes in four different locations that all need to be shot before they disappear.
Below are the four locations where targets will spawn:
Beside the Candy Store in front of the Court Room
In the windows of the Witches' Mansion
Inside the Saloon
Near the Mystery Box location
If you fail to shoot all the targets, you can re-try immediately by interacting with the fountain again.
Congratulations! You've beaten the Buried main quest: Mined Games.
