This quest can only be completed with two or more players, and one player in the game MUST have beaten the main quest for Shangri-La and Call of the Dead. One player MUST be playing as Richtofen to complete this quest fully, and, you will need to have the power turned on before you can begin this quest.
You'll also need to acquire some items from the box and around the map to complete this quest fully. Those items are:
Wave Gun Wonder Weapon (Found in the box)
Hacker (Found on the map around the labs)
Quantum Entanglement Device (Q.E.Ds, found in the box)
Gersh Device (Found in the box)
The Black Ops 3 version does not require you to complete any other main quests, and is doable solo. However, you still must be playing as Richtofen and it is not recommened to do solo do to the amount of times you will have to re-spin the box to swap out Q.E.D's for Gersh Devices and vice-versa.

Simon Says
After turning on the power, head outside of the Receiving Bay on the Olympia/RK5's wallbuy side in front of Tunnel 6. There you will find four computers lined up near the cliff, each computer represents a color, from left to right: red, green, blue, and yellow.
Interact with one of the computers to begin the mini-game. The computers will start by flashing their corresponding color, afterward, all computers will show you a single color and then you must interact with the computer that represents that color. Each time you are successful the computers will flash green. The game will repeat five times, adding a new color each time, so pay close attention to the order of the colors.
If done successfully, all computers will turn off. If you fail at any point, all computers will flash red, and you will have to begin the entire sequence again.
Hacking in the Laboratory
After acquiring the Hacker, head to the second floor of the Laboratory. On the wall to the left of the stairs leading to the third floor near the bowie knife will be four dim buttons lined up next to each other.
Hack one of the buttons for 500 points using the Hacker, afterward, you will have 60 seconds to search for four white-panel boxes with a glowing green light on them and hack all four. There are a total of eight white-panel boxes, below are the locations of all eight:
Once all four white-panel boxes have been hacked, return to the wall with the four dim buttons. You must interact with all four of the buttons on the wall in quick succession (can be done solo or with your group)
If done successfully, all the buttons will be glowing. If you couldn't hack all four white-panel boxes within 60 seconds, hack one of the buttons on the wall for another 500 points to try again.
Obtaining the Vrill Sphere
For this step, you will need to wait for one of the excavators on the map (Excavator Pi) to breach Tunnel 6. Afterward, use the hacker on the console affiliated with Excavator Pi to move it off Tunnel 6 so you can access it.
Once you have access to the tunnel, you will find a ball on the ground (Vrill Sphere) that you will have to knife to get it to move. Follow the ball while opening doors for it if it gets stuck or knifing it to keep it moving.
Eventually, the ball will end up stuck on a satellite dish on top of the spawn, shoot it with the Wave Gun to keep the ball moving.
Keep following the ball and this time it will get stuck in the ceiling of the Stamin-Up room, you can shoot it with any weapon or explosive to get it moving again (Ray Gun/Grenades are ideal). Once the ball begins moving again, it should end up lodging itself in the middle of the M.P.D's Vril Interface.
Opening the M.P.D
A glass cylinder can now be seen on the right corner of the M.P.D. You will have to fill this soul container by killing 25 zombies near the container. Once filled, you will be able to flip a lever similar to the power switch to the right of the M.P.D. which will open the M.P.D. revealing Samantha Maxis who was trapped inside the M.P.D.
Once completed, you will receive an achievement Cryogenic Slumber Party and a 90-second death machine.
This is not the end of the main quest, this is only the completion of the first part of the main quest. If you're doing this quest on the Black Ops 1 version, you will receive another achievement "Big Bang Theory" after completing the entire quest.
Powering the Vril Device
You must acquire two items to power the Vril Device (Golden Rod). These two items are the hexagonal plates in Area 51 and the "S" shaped cable in the Laboratory.
Acquiring the hexagonal plates
Head to Area 51 (spawn) and look to the right of the teleporter. On a shelf will be two hexagonal plates that you can knock down throwing a grenade at the shelf.
Afterward, throw a Gersh Device on the hexagonal plates teleporting them to the teleporter pad behind you. Return to the moon with the hexagonal plates on the pad with you. The plates will now be on the floor near
.Throw a Q.E.D at the plates, the blast should set the plates on a machine near the computer in the far right corner of the spawn (opposite of Quick Revive).
Acquiring the "S" shaped cable
This cable has a lot of spawns, however, all of the spawns are located in or just outside of the Laboratory. Be sure to check all corners and tables of each floor in the Laboratory. You can find an image of the "S" shaped cable along with the spawns outside the laboratory below:
This cable can be picked up at any point during this main quest, even before you start the quest. The cable also has multiple spawns inside each room of the lab so be sure to check all corners and tables on each floor of the lab.
Once you have both the plates and the "S" shaped cable you can head back to the spawn area and place the "S" shaped cable between the computer and the machine holding the plates to connect them.
Whichever player is Richtofen will now have to place the Vrill Device (Golden Rod) between the two hexagonal plates and then repeatedly use the interact button on the computer until they hear keyboard sounds and some dialogue begins to play.
Once completed, the Vril Device (Golden Rod) should be glowing purple and can now be picked up by any player.
Switching Souls
Head back to the M.P.D. There will now be 4 soul containers in each of the corners of the M.P.D. that you will have to fill by killing 25 zombies near each tube.
Once completed, place the Vril Device in the Vril Interface (front of the pyramid). This will swap the souls of Richtofen and Samantha Maxis giving perma perks to the player who is Richtofen.
Maxis's Revenge
Finally, throw a Q.E.D at the Vril Sphere in front of the M.P.D. This will activate the computers used during the Simon Says step and you will have to head over and once again play Simon Says by interacting with the computers, this time with harder sequences.
Once completed, throw a Gersh Device near the Vril Sphere on the floor to the right of the computers. This will trigger some dialogue and a rocket launch countdown will begin. Turn around to see the earth being destroyed by three rockets.
Congratulations! You've completed the Moon main quest: Richtofen's Grand Scheme.
This will unlock another achievement called "Big Bang Theory". This achievement does not exist for the Black Ops 3 version of this quest.
