Space Monkeys will only attack two perk machines at a time; any monkeys involved in breaking that machine will start targeting players while others continue attacking perk machines. The monkeys can be killed fairly easily, the challenge is figuring out which perk machines they are targeting and protecting them. The Thundergun is amazing for clearing out multiple monkeys, especially if they are all banging on a perk machine.
